Why would we want Puerto Rico to become a state? They're already a big drain on welfare! They come and work here in the US for ten months out of the year and then go back and not have to pay any federal taxes

If they became a state, wouldn't they then pay federal taxes?

Why would a people vote to start paying Fed Income tax is beyond me.
They already had access to programs with no taxes.

Education has really dumbed down people, hasn't it ?

Race, shmace. What fools would vote themselves to be taxed ? And for no good reason either. They had the best of both worlds..access to all programs and taxed for none.

Should be a no brainer. Almost three million people and US Citizens. Fantastic potential as a tourist destination.

they may very well be democrats for a decade or two...but then the individual capitalist streak cuts in and they go Repub. Or we export a lot of Cuban-Americans from Miami....

I can't see maintaining it as a welfare haven.

If we won't let them in then cut them loose.
