This. Great post.

Rational, educated people know the country has been evolving and changing for over 200 years. The people who are secure in who they are and know just how strong this country is at its core know that. They also know how to work with change. And live with it.

There will always be the wing-nuts who start talking about revolution and secession and stockpiling and tell each other where ammo is on sale. It will always be that way. Meanwhile the heart of the country just keeps chugging along.

There's real America: The guys you see in their hard hats lending a hand to their neighbors, enjoying their families, and popping a cold one on a Sunday to watch the game on TV. The women who work hard and enjoy being with their friends and bring a casserole to the neighbors whose Mom is sick.

Then there's people who are unhappy with.... pretty much everything. And are mad because they don't get to boss people around and are really ticked they don't get their way. So they live joyless lives full of fear and tell each other that Armageddon is coming. It's predictable. They are predictable.

This is one area you are 100% wrong. You may or may not have the right to start a business but you have no ability in running it without severe Govt intrusion.

If you had any real world experience, you would understand.
I should ask you if you have any real business ownership experience, you would understand the government isn't severely intruding into how you run your business.

I love how you guys use theory, sorry buddy, we have owned 5 businesses in the past 10 years.

You got it. It's amazing how stuck in motion they are. I live in Texas and I love my state but when it comes to way of life there are some real nut cases here. They are horrified that their way of life, whatever that is, will crumble. To be frank they are scared of minorities.

And, we all know they aren't really interested in stopping spending now. When an "R" puts ending Big Oil and Gas subsidies on the table I'll believe, When an "R" puts ending subsidies for Big Ag on the table I'll believe. Until then, it's just so much talk.[/quote]

Like you? Did running up the deficit result in the National Debt exceeding US GDP? No, it didn't, so in what ways are they similar? Well, they're not, but nice try at obfuscating.

Regarding "Big Oil and Gas" subsidies, why did you refuse to point out the legislation introduced by Democrats? Why did Democrats vote for those subsides? The funny things is that when Republicans ended the ethanol subsidies, it resulted in higher gasoline prices and all you did was whine and complain.

Can you to explain to everyone how "Big Oil and Gas" can compete globally when....

1] Other countries have lower corporate tax rates; AND

2] Other countries subsidize Big Oil and Gas; AND

3] Many countries have nationalized oil/gas --meaning they have unlimited financial resources through their respective governments while US companies do not; AND

4] Wages in the US are absurdly higher than in other countries.

Yes, they were included. The Democrats gleefully appropriated funding every year, including 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 when they controlled the House.

Nobody is predicting doom.

Since you imply you understand Economics, why don't you explain to everyone how cities and States can gain sales tax revenues if FICA/HI taxes are increased? If an average of $106/month is going directly from people's paychecks to the federal government, how do States and cities collect sales taxes on that?

Is there some kind of magical spell that one can cast? How does that work exactly?

What happens when States and cities have less revenues? Are services increased or cut?

Challenging....

Do internet searchs for stuff like taxrmageddon, the fiscal or regulatory cliff, and search for EPA. affordable Care Act, and Dodd Frank regulations that were so damaging to our country's economy, that the dems decided to put them off until after the election.
That's a good way of putting it.

Agreeing...

It's classic Leninism right out of the Red Book -- harp on trivial issues of no consequence to deflect from real issues.

Because we dont live for the present, we plan for the future. Its how conservatives are. Obamas taxing and spending will eventually run our debt up to staggering levels.
