"Nearly 200 high school hockey teams in Pennsylvania have been advised to eliminate the national anthem because it takes too much time to perform and costs too much money.
“We are recommending the national anthem not be played or sung or whatever it is,” Ed Sam, commissioner of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League told Fox News. “It has absolutely nothing to do with patriotism at all. That’s the furthest thing from the truth.”
Schools were notified of the directive in an email from the PIHL. He said teams are only allotted a certain amount of time to play matches.
Sam also said it had to do with economics. He said ice time is quite expensive and the national anthem eats into the clock."
I don't know but I've never been able to figure out the relationship between it and sporting events. Maybe it can be played when a champion is declared at the end of the season...like at the Olympics!
So what, 2 to 3 minutes? Sounds like hatred of country more than cost of ice time. If ice time is so expensive for schools then either eliminate ice hockey from area high school sports or charge more for fees for students and ticket prices to the game. Plenty of schools don't have an ice hockey program. To use the cost for two to three minutes to play the national anthem is a cop-out for their hatred of the country.

Supporting that crappy song screams out "I hate America" more than cutting it from sporting events. I might agree with you if you offered up one of the other, far superior patriotic songs to replace it.
