Why would a situation like that "haunt" you? Let me pose a question that you ALWAYS ask when a white person shows compassion or understanding towards blacks, but with a twist: Since when did you care about white folk, especially poor white people?

In a few more years race will not be a factor as more and more whites are relying on government assistance in some form is becoming more and more a necessity due to lack of jobs, lower wages and the economic situation of the country. A larger poverty base will become the "norm" if this country doesn't turn itself around.

I think the well off look down the nose at the poor simply because they are repulsed at the idea of living so poorly themselves. How can anyone possibly live like that? Just the thought being poor makes them cringe. Someone would have to be dumb and ignorant to accept living a poor life...etc.

Here's the twist, it's not possible for everyone to be financially successful. Somebody has to do the work, produce the product, serve the customer base, etc. The businesses that the successful own cannot operate and produce profits without us working class people. These same business owners know how much they pay in wages, many of which are paying minimum wage or hovering right around that minimum. So, they know they aren't paying wages that would permit their employees to "keep up with the Jones' ", the very same employees that, without them, the business could not be successful.

With a larger poverty base, and harder times, I would think that racial tensions might get worse.

Headed towards 2 classes of people, upper and lower, no middle.

So why work for that business? In order to get a higher wage you have to have competitive skill. Why is it the businesses fault that you will not educate yourself so you have marketable skills where you can demand higher wages? See this is why Obama is considered a savior. He says you don't have to improve your skills.

Obama likes you just the way you are. I wonder why he would rather keep you down then insist that you do something to make your life better?

It already is. This election was all about social issues and government programs to take care of the social issues. We have crossed the line. I fear there is no going back now.
