Traditionally, the Presidential candidate is the party leader, win or lose. With Romney's sudden disappearance from politics, who has become the Republican party's leader now?

I think ole Jeb might be a place holder or stand in until some one steps up to the plate. It should to be some one from the pre -Tea Party and Karl Rove Years.

It seems like Jindal, Rubio, and Jeb Bush are trying to take up the mantle. I actually wouldn't mind Jeb Bush influencing or even being the GOP nominee in four years. He's a conservative, but pragmatic and modern. The GOP can still be a conservative party, but if they think doubling down on the tea party is the way to go, they will have to lose a few more elections before they come to grip with reality.

Jindal, Rubio, or Ryan. Someone young and intelligent to pull the GOP out of the 'party of dumb' rut that we clearly fell into during the 2012 cycle. No more wishful, magical thinking from aging baby boomer bloviators.

Jeb, Rubio, Jindal and maybe Ryan are jockying for position. That Ryan could not deliver his own state hurt him. Jeb's last name hurts him. Being a tad brown hurts the others within their own party.

Don't think Romney 2 will be playing at a theatre near you.

I also think they would like a brown "mascot" but definitely a blue blood as a leader

At the moment? No one.

There's a vacuum and it's not clear who is going to fill it. Will they go full tea party nutjob? Religious extremist? Moderate?

Ryan is a rigid ideologue. I can't stand listening to him talk. I don't agree with Jindal or Rubio on much, but they are more than just rigid ideologues. They have more substance and fresher ideas.

Hopefully someone from the sane wing. I'm encouraged by Jindal the last 4 weeks, Bob Corker, Christie since day 1, Jeb Bush might be ok.
