Because people like to wallow in misery? I don't know. I like the 50s shows and what they tried to convey I would like more shows now to do the same thing. Escape from reality isn't so bad when we look for our entertainment. Some people had really sucky lives, do we need to watch it for entertainment? I don't want to be entertained by that anyway. That is demeaning it.

Name a religious group and you can bet at some point they've been a victim of persecution because of it at one time or another in history.
So lets all demand restitution. Oh please. I post a nice thread and people go off their nut. I know history. Start another thread if you want to talk about all our sucky, bad history. I want to talk about our good, uplifting history.

True. And although great entertainment, it did not represent real life for all Americans. Some actually, were not white middle class folks living by the perfectly designed values and behavior depicted in the family sitcom. In short, it was not everyone's world any more than Sanford and Son was.

Good point. Both shows are entertaining so lets enjoy them for what they are/were. Little House on the Prairie was probably not exactly true either even if they were based on a true story but I would rather have kids watch it for entertainment than a druggie/ prostitute show.
What we need now is a return to Bewitched, so we could twitch or noses and have all these jobs returned to our shores, and all our issues could be solved without any compromise or effort.
Whats important....is cutting everything on TV-Theater-Movies-Computer and running all these good shows continuously. Every Friday each school should have a movie day and drill another one home in order, to get these youngsters off their puffers and other emotional anti-life brainwashing... . In time society has a chance to stop the well known devolving process into the Neanderthals that the entire society basically is headed. I think Seal Beach at the Bay Theater shows the old movies and they do very well. I went through about 3 years and said hey...all old stuff....bought movie packs on line, ignored the society except work and a few other things... and just read headlines. Going to get back to it eventually.

But that's kind of the point, isn't it? If an actor on screen talks about "personal rights to worship and think and speak as we choose" at a point in US history when his rights were under massive attack from his own government - that's not good, uplifting history at all.
