I work third shift so I listen pretty often. The show is purely for the entertainment value.

Its a good show. Noory presents a very similar show to what Art Bell did, he just has a different style. Bell had that voice which I loved and had a darker wit.
What else is there to listen to? You can vegetate to the same music over and over or listen to political talk which never solves anything. Local talk was good but now syndicated talk has taken over. You get a good range of material on Coast to Coast from the silly and obviously whacked to good stories from people that make you think or gives you the heeby jeebys. And they do get some topics that mainstream outlets don't like talking about. You do get an unsanitized discussion of events from time to time and that makes it worth listening to. I've gotten better political and economic analysis there than on any cable news show. Its just hit and miss.

I used to listen depending on the guest, some were interesting to me, some covered topics I didn't care about. Now I have to wake up too early to listen to that show.

I was a long time listener. I can remember in the 1980s when the show was called "West Coast AM". Art Bell hosted the show from 720AM KDWN/Las Vegas. That station has a booming signal and reaches 13 Western states at night (and ironically hasn't been a coast to coast affiliate for years).

Back in the 80s the show was 99% political. Although even back then Art would talk about things like Eathquakes. I can remember in 1988 I would call and defend Michael Dukakis. The rest of the audience (including Art Bell himself) hated Dukakis. Back then I felt like the only liberal in the world. Since then, I have become a staunch conservative and most of the country has moved far to the left. I am always in the minority.

Anyway, Art's show started gaining affiliates in the early 90s and eventually became "Coast to Coast AM". It was still mostly politcal, I remember Art being a strong Ross Perot supporter in 1992. Sometime in the mid 90s it shifted to metalphysical, conspiracy theories etc.

The show was excellent until it was bought out by syndicator Premiere (a division of Clear Channel). It just became more boring after the sale, even when Art Bell still hosted it.

Nice try at revisionist history, but it was your fellow Democrats who persecuted the communists in Hollywood and elsewhere, not Republicans.
Actually, that's not entirely accurate in the larger context of what some define as the McCarthyism of that time line.

There was an effort not too many are familiar with called the "Reese Committee" headed by B. Carroll Reese, R, US House regarding un-American Activities engaged in by non-profit foundations that produced what is called the "Dodd Report". In that report, Frank Dodd uncovered in the archives of the very foundations he investigated, undeniable evidence of intent to destroy the United States Constitutional Republic, through the efforts of foundations like the Rockefeller and Ford foundations, and the Carnegie Endowment, through a takeover of the education system, beginning at the university level.

This is amongst other evidence that vindicates McCarthy, and his allegations that a communist-left wing conspiracy was ongoing and widespread. The communists won, and that's why such a conspiracy is dismissed as a whacky theory by those who dominate and own politics and media today.

Yet, we are neck deed in left wing tyranny today, and everyone thinks it's "normal", because of the successful leftist takeover (as clearly defined and documented by the Dodd Report) of our education system.

Art Bell was the direct cause of many a sleepless or sleep shortened next days for me. That confounded Midnight to 4:00 am show was often to fascinating to turn off ... and given that in those earlier days, there was no "archived shows" available .. so you either caught the show live or didn't.

Art Bell had a cult-like following of fans, and his shows were sometimes waaaay out there ... but that was the appeal ... Bell never shied away from any topic. I think Noory does a very good job in filling the rather large footprints Bell left his successors, but to the hard core Bell fans, Art is irreplaceable.
