He definitely has a disease, but the state should have tried to fix that after the first time. He clearly wasn't getting help during his first eight convictions.

I've had to deal with illnesses without government assistance and never put the public in danger.

This is from two years ago. It's a good opener to a discussion, but I'm curious - why post it now? Or did you not notice the date?
Anyway, he will be eligible for parole after not very long (probably 15 years). They are not throwing away the key, though I do think the law probably should allow that.
this guy has had ample opportunity to turn his life around and he has failed to take advantage of those opportunities. life in prison is an acceptable sentence considering this guy has a criminal record as long as most people cars.
Definitely not too harsh. He should have been locked up for life after the first time.
