Looks like that Arab Spring thingy about democracy was just trading one dictator for another.

End result: neither one liked America.

I hate to break it to you, but President Obama did not cause 12 million Egyptians to vote for Mr. Morsi.

So when is another countries leader the choice of the US? When did that countries choice have to appeal to this country? This is a pretty egocentric thread if you ask me.

Morsi won't last.

He's no different from any President/politican - lie and lie and lie to get voted in and once elected enforce their own agenda.

Let's not forget that the administration asked Mubarak to step down during an uprising, and eventually backed the Muslim Brotherhood with American money after the elections. Morsi is now faced with the same uprising because of his dictatorial powers, but now the administration is silent.

If Obama's Arab Spring sentiments were genuine, he and this administration would be supporting democracy instead of a dictator.

I'm sure he (as well as other US presidents) do prefer supporting democracies over dictatorships as a general principal. In the real world, however, you've got to deal with the world as you find it, which unfortunately means working with dictatorships. Every president does it. Every president in the future will continue to do it. It's ridiculous to single out Obama.

Is it really ridiculous? The Mubarak administration was at least cordial to America. The Muslim Brotherhood has urged jihad against Americans in the past five years. Seems that an American president would rather deal with an known ally rather than a hostile one. The administration knew which way the political winds were blowing in Egypt before Mubarak was urged to resign.

Yes Mubarak was friendly to America, however his people were done with him. The US had a choice: side with a friendly dictator in a brutal crackdown on his people OR side with the obvious, publicly expressed will of the Egyptian people to remove him.
