Most Republicans claim to hate regulation of all sorts. Freedom of opportunity, etc. Freedom to frack. Freedom to sell weapons. Freedom to do payday loans. Freedom to do most things for a quick buck. Why then, do they want to legislate to control another person's love and marital life?

Seems awfully hypocritical to me.

It's in contrast to how most Democrats support the idea of marrying your dog or horse.

And before anyone jumps my post I support gay marriage but really, do we need 50 threads on it, especially one as much of a strawman as this one?

"Intendedly", regulations are wrong-preventative, but they usually work out to be wrong causative.

Might be better if the court system worked, and if people had ethics and morals.

Corporations do not have ethics or morals, because, though they are persons, they are not people.

I'm just so glad you started a new thread. Gay marriage is clearly being ignored on this board!

Thread failure. Who the hell said government should regulate love?

Is the OP suggesting the government should get their hands out of marriage all together? Of course not, they want government even more involved..

Why? There seems to be a tendency among people to give this "if you don't like regulations then why do you want regulation X?" argument. It really doesn't make any point. When have Republicans said they want total anarchy with no law? Never. So it's illegitimate reasoning to try to call they hypocritical for not opposing any particular law just because they oppose overregulation in general.

Maybe we'll eventually run out of inane, asinine allegations like "most Democrats support the idea of marrying your dog or horse"
