California has become a parody of its supposed promises, like a Burbank studio backdrop with a painted Golden Gate, state tax bills merrily dance under the bright stagelights, the orchestra pit roars "Daydream". Center stage: a group of cosmetically prettified homeless folk with bedrolls pirrouette and flail, swooning at cosmetically altered old people channeling youth, plastic-Botox smiles affixed on their laminated empty faces since everyday is a good day when another snip 'n' staple doesn't burst and lose cherished tautness. What a nightmare! After the lights dim and the crowd exits, Latin workers make food and clean the carpets, as Asian accountants tally the receipts.

Must the show go on? No one else has read a viable script and the audience demands no other. So the nightmare reprises year after broke year, only the actors in Sacto change their seats every now & again due to term limits...

It says everything that no one but Moonbeam wanted the job. Who else would be so foolish?

"Dips to 10.1 %"? Gee, it is 5.3% where I live.

Now who in their right mind would blame republicans for the plight of CA, which is nearly 100% democratic? Liberal policy has caused the budget woes, the industry flight, and the high unemployment in CA.

What "good things" is Brown doing? He is trying to reign in spending, as are many democratic and republican mayors in CA. One should not care about party affiliation when a politician is actually trying to reign in spending. Arnold tried to control spending as well, but was checked by the democratic senate and congress in CA at every turn.

What a laugh- blame republicans in CA! I didn't know there were any republicans in CA anymore. It is shocking that a lib would have the audacity to blame the woes of CA, created by liberal policy, on conservatives. Yet libs never take responsibility for anything themselves (see Obama), so it should not be surprising. When was the last time a liberal claimed responsibility for anything? They just cannot seem to understand, despite the dismal failures of thier policies in CA, that liberalism is inherently flawed and doomed to failure.

It is laughable that the CA financial woes are being blamed on Republicans.
And even more laughable that people believe this.

Well then..let's blame any Texas financial problems on the liberals/Democrats then.

You forgot a poll entry.. - Never, the problem was created by Democrats.

Since California was in a mess PRIOR to Arnie becoming the Governator, probably never, until,

They remove all illegals, quit spending money on everything, and utilize taxes for what they were intended for instead of ever single thing they decide to throw money at.

Whatever helps you rationalize your partisan views.

P.S. It was not doing "just fine" it was living off a housing bubble and had an exploding unfed debt (pensions etc.) issue.

KS had a democratic governor when a few extremists tried to hijack their school board and go anti-evolution.
Why is it that democrats are against science?

Just a stupid, stupid thread. It's a shame because having an honest discussion about Californias situation requires putting aside partisan politics and doing an economic autopsy.

Wow. The shrill, hysterical anger by teabags and conservatives when confronted with their utter failures is pretty telling.

It seems they want to completely forget the 8 failed years of the Governator, just like they're throwing that other failure--Dumbya Bush--under the bus.

Is CA a dictatorship, run only by the Governor ?
Are you forgetting who holds the purse strings in Sacremento ?

My God, posts like this just show how ignorant the public really is on the actual issues. I guess in a nation of American Idol, Reality TV shows and the Kardashians, we can't really expect much.

OP, just a dash of *reality* here for you:

1) Arnie was a very liberal Republican, many consider him the quintessential RINO.

2) California had a Democratic-controlled state senate during Arnie's 8 years.

3) Jerry Brown has a long record of actually being right-wing (ooh nooes!!!) on budget/fiscal spending. He has already made several spending cuts to state social service programs. He is governing like a ...gulp.. Republican!!

Now, please, educate yourself before posting a flaming partisan thread and making yourself look a moron.
