So you want to "end welfare" by paying people more than their job is worth? Sorry, that's just another way of giving welfare. Some jobs simply don't pay a livable wage, period, end of story. If that's all someone is competent or qualified or motivated to do then they'll have to work 2 of them, or get a similarly skilled room mate, or two. That used to be considered normal, back when people didn't expect a lavish lifestyle on a fast food income.

And before you give me the tired old "well they should go to school" line, I hope you realise many people earning that wage are college graduates who can't find a job in their chosen career due to the economy.
Sad part is that these jobs have always been jobs for kiddo's that are in college, need some cash etc. With the destruction of the economy brought on by the moron in the whitehouse these jobs, that used to be for kid's, are now being looked at as living wage jobs. Wake up folks, your supreme leader has made fools of all of you.. Tax the rich when it won't make a difference in the debt is a "makes me feel good" deal. Why don't you ask him to prosecute the CEO's that stole billions. Bush prosecuted more Wall Street thugs than Obama. You know how many Wall Street folks he put in prison over this deal? It's mind numbing to watch the stupidity of the left right now.

Spoiler
Not one...

Just get a marketable degree and you will get a good-paying job. Those with degrees in woman studies will ask "Do you want fries with that?". That's the way it is.

I would connect government welfare to the rebate of regressive taxes. It's not government's business to subsidize the middle class through regressive taxes on the working class.

Some years ago I had the idea of getting a larger number of burger flippers together, pooling our money, and opening a McD's (or Subway, etc) franchise.

Unfortunately, the SEC makes that very difficult by making it a lot more expensive and complicated than it should be.

You'd be better off opening a local diner with a good short order cook.
Good, cheap, wholesome food always brings return customers.

And the hoops one has to jump through are probably much, much less than that of opening a franchise.

so who is going to answer the Welfare question for me , please?:

ie: Why should the taxpayer subsidise the business that pays low wages (or subsidise the worker, whichever way you look at it)

Surely Welfare should be for the unemployed only?

What?

Cons here ***** about "welfare queens" who don't work yet collect checks.

And the solution is to make it so working for a paycheck pays more than collecting welfare, and your response to that is "well that's just another form of welfare."

You are out of your gourd. It's a real, viable solution which benefits everyone.

I think this is prima facie evidence that you don't want solutions for welfare, you just want to hate and abuse the working poor.

good post.

and still no answer to my question by the poor-bashers.

It seems that the employers are being let off the hook with paying sub-standard wages, by which the taxpayer must make up the shortfall!
