1. A police officer candidate should be void of all racial indifference, period.
2. Using a quota system ensures that the best quality candidates are not accepted and that substandard candidates are accepted. When the candidates are dumbed down the training will be effected so that the less capable candidates can pass or there is a higher rate of failure.
3. Assuming the courses are dumbed down, we're placing any person in Aurora at a disadvantage because the less qualified police officer is now charged with enforcing the law based on his/her interpretation of the law. That has real consequences on the quality of life of the people in Aurora.
4. To subject the people of Aurora to less qualified police is and of itself a disservice to the community.
Race should have absolutely no place in the hiring of any job, the grant of any contract or anything of the like. Using race by claiming diversity is a failure of the individual, not the hiring process of the police department.
People that want diversity are themselves racist, they just don't have the sense to recognize their own assumptions or stupidity.

Why can't Blacks past test in sufficient numbers to diversify this police force? Should these tests be scrapped in order to achieve diversity goals? What are the implications of doing this action?
Diversity is to be valued in any organization but especially a public organization like the police or fire. For far too long, these organizations have been the exclusive domain of white males (and here in Chicago, only the Irish needed to apply). It is not because they scored higher on a test but because the test was rigged in their favor by the higher ups. Only when the Federal government stepped in and ordered diversity, did things change even a little bit. The test is now a pass/fail test. If you score over 74%, you pass and your name is placed on to the candidate waiting list. Even this has not brought about as much diversity as I would like but it is far better than it used to be. This should be how it is done all over. We need to promote diversity.
Well, if you ever need the police and Officers O'Reilly and McNamara show up to assist, feel free to send them on their way and ask for an officer of color.

Depends on how you define "qualified."
Do you believe that all tests are equal?
Do you believe that testing proves that one knows everything one needs to know about a given subject?
