That's what I have heard from a policeman who spoke about this once in public.
Make sure that he is inside your property after he falls.

What do you think of this advice?

Tampering with a crime scene. Not a good idea. The schmear of blood back to your property may give you away if not the crime scene reconstruction of trajectories, angles, and distances. I doubt a policeman gave such advice.

Heel marks from the front yard to the front door is a dead giveaway...

And I've been given similar advice by Uncle LEO!

Make sure nobody’s watching and no cameras were on or around. If you can’t lift it yourself get someone else to grab the feet, somebody takes under the arms, and both people carefully carry the body back just inside the door. Carefully lay it down just like you found it and don’t get anything on you or leave tracks or footprints.

It all depends on the laws in the state where you live.... In my state, just leave them where they fall and then call the cops..

Taking advise from police? You gotta be kidding yourself. Police aren't your friend and their job is ... to put people in jail. Don't take advise from police.

If you want real legal advise, seek it from a competent attorney.

What has been said here is highly ILLEGAL!!! Doing so will send you to prison even you were totally justified to shoot the bad guy.
