Japan leads the world, per capita, in both of those statistics. But US is not behind either...

And the suicide rate gets progressively worse in the lower age ranges.
Side Note: Some of these nations that are considered the happiest countries in the world (i.e Switzerland, New Zealand, Finland) have twice the suicide rate as the US.
Maybe you can make the argument that gun control promotes people giving up their own ghost....
if we gave up the war on drugs and stopped the prison for profit complex in America...there would be less illegal guns on the street and less killings because of them.
Unfortunately, I still believe that tighter gun regulations do very little to prevent incidents like mass shootings from happening.
