And I agree 100%. This is the most sane common sense approach in a attempt to curb school violence. It is the logical choice. It is a deterrence. You would be leveling the playing field in case a person or persons tried to commit acts of lethal violence on the school grounds. Armed teachers or other school officials could retaliate against the perpetrators and end the violence before irreparable harm could ensue.

Rick Perry: Teachers should have ‘access to weapons in their school’
Rick Perry: Teachers should have ‘access to weapons in their school’

Texas Gov. Rick Perry expressed support for allowing school districts to determine whether teachers can carry concealed handguns in class, which at least one Texas district already permits.

"In the state of Texas, if you go through the process, have been trained, and you are a handgun-licensed individual, you should be able to carry a gun anywhere in the state,"

Virginia Gov. McDonnell said during a WTOP radio program today, "I know there's been a knee-jerk reaction against that. If people were armed, not just a police officer but other school officials who were trained and chose to have a weapon, certainly there would have been an opportunity to stop aggressors coming into the schools.

It is a win-win situation.

A rational ( I use the word guardedly, and only to mean that someone is capable of planning and executing as opposed to someone who is acting impulsively and in a deranged manner) person who wants to attack a school would be deterred by the possibility that a faculty member may be armed and capable of preventing the massacre.

A shooter who is not deterred for whatever reason could be stopped before they have the opportunity to do maximum damage.

Don't we owe our children some semblance of security?

How can anybody who cares about children oppose this proposal?

Hiding under desks and in closets just makes one a sitting duck.

One must have the means to fight back and defend the school.

I don't support pre-school and kindergarten teachers carrying guns in schools. Not a good idea.

Does this mean I get the right to defend myself against Gov. Perry if he comes to my school?

Huh?

Why would you want to encourage a shooter to attack a kindergarten classroom?

What kind of twisted demented logic are you spinning??? I think there are plenty examples of wacky and stupid things Democrats promote and say (see Bloomberg), but you Republicans seem to take the cake when it comes to absurd ideas.

And we should also start using Huey Helicopters to drop the children off at school in the morning via the DMZ. Maybe, use a moat with a swordsman, guarding it, that makes you answer a riddle if you wish to pass.
