A government on the eve of the retirement of the single largest demographic group in the history of the country that has no savings, is perpetually in debt, and will be continue to be elected by that same large demographic group that allowed the current situation to develop. Which means that over the course of our lives this group will continue to be catered to while every subsequent generation will be left to bear the brunt of the cost in high tax rates and reduced services.

An economic situation that will never really improve because a great many of our forebearers thought it was a peachy idea to allow completely unfettered capitalism resulting in unbreakable monopolies, the advent of global competition in the job market to the detriment of anyone expecting the wages necessary to fund a first-world standard of living, and the utter decimation of the manufacturing base of the United States (in addition to a myriad of other undesirable outcomes).

A society with a divorce rate of 50%, untenable alimony, and an untold number of men paying punitive levels of child support for children most probably didn't even want in the first place (a good portion of which no doubt benefits women that hate their guts).

Political correctness run amuck where a man can be destroyed through financial punishment, inhibited chances for personal advancement, ostracization, or even jail for so much as an uncouth comment/joke or holding an opinion outside accepted standards.

I just can't figure out why these lazy man-boys won't grow up and start living up to their responsibilities. Don't they want the American dream?

Someone posted a pretty good article on the subject a few months ago. Evidently nearly 1/3 of men in their 20s cannot perform with a real woman due to over exposure to Internet porn.some can't perform without Viagra.

Sadly, Adam Lanza and James Holmes are just the tip of the iceberg of a much larger problem in our society.

Our young women vastly outperform our young men in almost every important statistical category. Young men are much more likely to perform poorly in school, they are much more likely to have disciplinary problems and they are much more likely to commit suicide.

In the old days, our young men would gather in the streets or in the parks to play with one another after school, but today most of them are content to spend countless hours feeding their addictions to video games, movies and other forms of entertainment.

When our young men grow up, many of them are extremely averse to taking on responsibility. They want to have lots of sex, but they aren't interested in marriage.

They enjoy the comforts of living at home, but they don't want to go out and pursue career goals so that they can provide those things for themselves. Our young men are supposed to be "the leaders of tomorrow", but instead many of them are a major burden on society. When are we finally going to admit that something has gone horribly wrong?

There is even a name for this generation of young men that does not want to grow up. It is called the "Peter Pan generation". They want to enjoy the benefits of being grown up without ever taking on the responsibilities.

I'm a young man. Lazy, unemployed, broke, unskilled, irresponsible, technologically plugged in...

I'm the archetype you are discussing.

Why am I lazy? Don't like to work.
Why am I unemployed? Don't want to wake up everyday and have to be somewhere doing something..
Why am I unskilled? Went to college and wasted both time and money studying stuff that didn't give me any skills applicable to this society.
Why am I broke? Don't have a job and was born relatively poor.
Why am I irresponsible? Responsibility sucks...who wants to be responsible?
Why am I technologically plugged in? What else is there to do? This beats that.

Still, my life is far from sucky. Could be living in the middle east, or china.
You think my life sucks? I don't envy the chinese men my age. I'd snap too...

Life's good though. It's not on your dime, taxpayers, it's on mine.

So, you know, keep your noses out of it...is all I'm saying.

I'm just living my life...

And the haters do what they do best...

Two words. Feminism and misandry.

Just another article blaming only males for society's problems.

Most of that was in jest. Here is a more serious answer.

Here's the thing.
I'm a man. I'm capable of whatever I want. Or, at least, I believe this to be true.
I'm not running around gunning people down. I don't really see the point of it.
And, still, all of us are being grouped together as if there is some grand conspiracy we've been working on. As if we are the problem.
It's starting to be, more and more, a state where we're presumed guilty. People look at me as if I'm up to no good. Many my age are put into jail for absolutely garbage reasons...some guy was smoking weed...they put him in jail. Some guy decided that he didn't want to pay for his weed, so he'd supply and smoke for free, they put him in jail. He can't afford to insure his car, gets caught, gets fined. Guy parks his car, didn't pay the parking meter, gets fined. Over and over, we're just being bent over and told to comply. Whatever, that's life.
Do you know how frustrating it is to see people who were born into money just living it up?
But, I'm not entitled to any of that because of my life's circumstances. Whatever, I've gotten over it. Life isn't fair...we all learn that eventually.
Instead of taking it out on people in the way that I know I'm capable of, I keep to myself. Even though I know I am stronger and smarter than a whole bunch of people, I live as if I'm not. I've been starving in college...even though I know that if it were all out war, I'd thrive. I know the depths of depravity...I'm capable of a ton load of bad behavior...and quite honestly, I don't do most of it because it's not right. I can take your stuff...no one would stop me except other guys with guns. And if I have a gun, then we're even. He just plays for a different side, but I can compete. Instead, I just lay low, and pre occupy myself. A lot of that is getting lost in different worlds. Why do I care about this one, when the ones who make it here either got a head start, or are just doing something that is, in the end, irrelevant? For example, at 23, the richest among us are celebrities who contribute nothing towards anything, athletes who are rich by virtue of playing a game, or people who were born into it. For many of us, for me, I don't want to or I'm not capable of doing any of that..
So, the path set for me is middle class obscurity. And that's the path that everyone wants us, or me, to go down.
The thing with that is, I'm already middle class...and I don't see a way out of it. If I exert myself, I can be upper middle class, but that comes with a whole bunch of work, and the benefits of it won't be seen until I'm way into my 40s or 50s...and even then, I'm looking at just upper middle class. (Doctor, lawyer, etc)... to top it off, I'm already there as it is...by virtue of my parents...but I still live the very same lifestyle I'll always be living....
Meanwhile, we have guys living it up at my age. But, like I said, life isn't fair. And I'm dealing with it.

So, whatever. Either you set up a better path that leads to the ends that I seek, or I carve out my own. If you don't like my path, that's too bad...as I don't like the ones that were provided for me, either.

In the end, I'll just be a middle class nobody, some 40 year old geezer living in suburban america waiting for death. But, if that isn't my fate...then it'll be by virtue of me doing something else.

And when I see that I can't do what else I'd like, I can see why someone would snap.

Fix it, or we'll bring it down and put up one we like better. Or at least, I'll work towards that end.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about...

Quote:
There is income inequality in America. There always has been and hopefully, and I do say that, there always will be.
Quote:
“We do not accept that ours will ever be a nation of haves and have nots; we must always be a nation of haves and soon to haves.”
I'm a "soon to have"...but, I don't want it soon, I want it now.

That's the pressure that's being felt.

If that's his end, then I'm not working towards it. He's welcome to...and I'm welcome not to.

That's exactly the point I'm trying to make. Someone earlier said boys and girls are being told they're the same. I asked if he was referring to equal pay and rights, and he said I was immature. So I'm just wondering what he was referring to by that comment, if it wasn't equal rights and pay. Clearly they know they are different, based off appearance, different bathrooms, separate sports, everything. I'm pretty sure they can all tell the difference between a male and female.

The poster that made that claim has since ran away from the thread, and hasn't answered my question.

Wait a minute...you're technologically plugged it, it's on your dime, you're unemployed.

So how are you paying for it all?
