The snowflakes are trying to imply negative things about Trump, but seriously, does anyone not think this chart is cool and a nice gift to Trump?

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday presented US President Donald Trump with a straightforward, colorful chart to explain Japanese investment in the US, a White House official told Axios.

Trump met with Abe on Friday morning at the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.

I don't have a problem with this at all, in fact it is smart. 60% of Americans process information visually and that is the whole point. To impart information.

Knocking infographics and the like is silly. It can be an example of what I call "wordism", which is that ideas are best expressed with words alone.

The reason so much of our communication is with the written word is because for a long time it was an inexpensive way to communicate. Movable type is cheaper than a woodcut illustration.

Now the costs of generating and printing graphics have fallen, but there is still a cultural preference for words, to make something "official". When often a graphic can express the idea more clearly.

Actually it's human nature to process information visually, especially with colors. And Japan does this most of the time with everything. In fact, the Japanese did extensive studies on this and found that the human brain works by association of color first. Example is the train system in Japan. The express trains are in green color Kanji, the semi-express trains are in red color Kanji and the local trains are in black color Kanji. They do this because people can identify the type of train with just a very quick glimpse vs reading exactly what the Kanji says. This example may be somewhat trivial, but when it comes to taking trains in Japan, it's quite important to have as much a streamlined system as possible.

I wish someone would make some economic charts to explain economics to the Democratic candidates we saw on the debate stage the past two nights!

I made the mistake of clicking on that NYT reporter’s tweet. Every reply following it was nasty. It’s a reflection on Peter Baker of the New York Times that he draws such a hateful following. Twitter really is the playground of some hate filled people trying to outdo each other.

Trump does not read or understand documents. This is becoming common knowledge if even the Japanese know this. Everything is presented to him in pictures, like it would be with a child.
