If Romney won, with the GOP increasing its Senate and House membership, all the tax rates would have stayed as 2012, SS, Medicare, other entitlements would be cut severely.

If Obama won, and Dems picked up seats in the Senate and House, the tax rates for those with the most income were going to head back to the levels of the 1990s, SS, Medicare would most likely be restructured, but in a very gradual way.

Scenario 2 happened, but many of those who hoped for 1 are hoping the losing side gets their platform enacted.

It has never happened in our representative democracy, nor will it, or should it, happen now, or ever. On 11/6/2012, the majority spoke.

So basically, once we know which party received 50.01% of the vote, all members of the other party should pack their bags and go home.

No, but they should be mature enough to realize they will get a minority share of what they desire, as anything they do get, must come via compromise. That places them at a distinct disadvantage, and that is what they needed to avoid to get their wish list on 11/6/2012.

and thus the problem with obama winning. the republicans, well boehner anyway, HAS compromised. obama hasnt. real compromise works both ways, meaning both sides have to give a little. however obama wants the republicans to compromise with him meaning "its my way or the highway". obama hasnt compromised, in fact he has pushed for more of what he wants.

HUH! 400k and a trill in cuts was the third WH offer, JB offered just once and moved to the idioitic, time-wasting Plan B he couldn't even get passed.

Now, in 4 days, instead of 400k and trillion in cuts, we get 250k with no cuts.

Well done, wing nuts.

I despise the tea party members. They would rather us ALL go down in flames than use that dirtiest of all words ' compromise'.

For some reason - they are living in some alternate university where Romney gets elected and we put Paul Ryan's plan through.

I don't know how ANYONE could work with those leering idiots. The sooner the GOP boots their a$$ out of the party - the better off they will be and this country will be. Oh, and they can take Norquist with them.

Why doesnt america split into two?

Ive never seen such hatred between conservative and liberal as i have on these forums. Most countries have a general mutual respect for each sides views. In america, there is genuine, personal, ugly hatred of each other and complete and unquestioning allegiance to either Obama or whoever the GOP sticks up there.

There are many Americans in the middle. They just don't tend to flock to political forums or vote in the primaries.

Since when is supporting the constitution an "alternate reality"?

Remember....the GOP was as bad as the dummycrats with spending.

The new breed on Tea Party, Constitutional minded Senators will reduce spending.

You do not compromise your principles.

On another note....I did not vote for Tea Party candidates to go into congress and lay down for obama.
