Many of us have seen it for years, when the media likes someone, they will defy all common sense to keep the positive narrative going. The Manti Te'o story just proves this once again. The media ignored all the warning signs so they could continue to cover this story they believed so much. CBS did a 3 minute report on Te'o and his fake girlfriend the morning of the BCS championship.
Some reporters actually did take a minute to call Stanford, check for obituraries, etc., and when they couldn't find any records, they just rationalized it away.
How the Media Missed the Hoax of Manti Te

The Te'o scandal proves once again how bad the media is in this country. Te'o however, has apparently learned nothing from Obama. When he was caught, he should have told the media that Lennay was his "composite" girlfriend. Then any time someone brought up the lies again, he could have screamed "Racist!" That's worked for Obama with the media for years.

What's truly pathetic here is the lame attempt at dragging Obama into the mud as if he had anything to do with this BS.

Perhaps you hypocrite righties would've been happier had Te'o simply said "Well, I don't remember", eh?

Media can vet a LB from Notre Dame but can't vet the president of the US.

This event is a symptom of our society becoming a pansy assed soap opera.

On PBS last night, the report indicated that internet trolls were responsible for this hoax.

Here's some information about internet trolls, and what they do.

Yes, there is bad media and it's not confined to CBS, NBC, or ABC, Fox does the same thing.

So why did you mention President Obama? Were you hoping to generate outrage?

Yea, blame the messenger because the message bothers you ...because it's easier to do that. Since you bring up the question of "Racist" .... if one walks like a racist, quacks like a racist and otherwise behaves like a racist ... well, I guess they're a racist. Yea. I think I can identify one. And it's not in the "media" on this story I'm seeing them. It's the haters of the free flow of information who are often the most mentally ill extremists in the nation. As for the troubled man from Notre Dame ... I certainly hope he isn't a psych major. The boy is troubled and is in for some legal problems because of the stunt.
