what do you have to fear from a background check unless you are a criminal? I don't understand how anyone in their right mind could be opposed to background checks and waiting periods when buying a gun. do many members of the NRA have criminal backgrounds? then I could see why they would be opposed to it.
I would take it a step further and require gun owners to be licensed. you need a license to drive a car but any idiot can legally own a gun?
A waiting period is pointless. It does nothing besides inconvenience legal buyers. It doesn't reduce crime, prevent violence or do anything it promised to do.

Adam Lanza was denied the purchase of a gun because he did not want to submit to a background check and did not want to wait for the mandated "waiting period" time. More laws is not the answer to the problem.
What are you going to say to the people whose loved ones die from a robbery, rape or other criminal action while they were "waiting" for their time to run? Why does anyone have the right to delegate how and when you have the constitutional right to defend yourself and your family?

This is a prime example of how uneducated anti-gun people are about our current gun laws. We already do have to have a FBI background check when we purchase a gun from a dealer. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 days to get back.

I can but not sure when your deranged BF has sworn to find you and cut you into pieces to mail to your parents as Christmas gift, would you still have the patience to wait a few days?
Especially when you go ask help from police, all they will tell you is to perform a certain reproductive act to yourself in addition to laughing to your face. They may not be that mean but "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." doesn't veer much further from the F word.
