Muslim immigration in Europe had basically become an economic necessity since many European countries have a low birthrate, Japan has resisted immigration, but they are about to get nailed since their population is declining precipitously. The issue Europe has is that unlike the US where anyone can become a full fledged American. Most European countries are based on an ethinic-historical identity instead of the US in which identity is based on belief in a set of core principles.

Protest against gay marriage: Huge crowds expected in Paris - World News
Yawn. They did the same thing in Spain prior to the passage of marriage equality in that country. You can't really hold back the progress. Marriage Equality will be a reality in France just as it is in most other civilized western European countries.

Obviously, there are many French people who don't believe in freedom and liberty - just like many Republicans in the U.S.

Polls show that 63% of the French support legalizing gay marriage.

How long do you think it will be until gay marriage is legal in all 50 states?

A year or two. My prediction is the SCOTUS will strike down DOMA and Prop 8 as well as all state constitutional amendments banning gay marriage.

Unfortunately, I have a difficult time believing that will be enough for the far left. The next battle will be against private businesses and religious institutions that refuse to recognize the marriages as such, even though they are fully equal under federal and state law.
