Blomberg the idiot says now that too many people are getting pain killers and dying on them from emergency rooms and is planning to limit them. Man this idiot is making the idea of a nanny state come true in New York. I would not live in NYC if you paid me. Its becoming a crap hole..

Its the same old story, you give power to any side and they go over the top. The dems did it then the republicans on abortion and other issues now the Dems are at it again. We want your guns and your pain killers.

New Yorkers love living in a fascist nanny state. They would be completely lost if their elected politicians did not tell them what they can buy and how much they can have. It is truly pathetic, I know, but if that is what New Yorkers want, more power to them. Most freedom-loving sane people would find such fascism to be repugnant.

The people of NYC seem to like that kind of governance else how could get re-elected so many times.
NYC is turning into a very strict city to live in.

Add MB to a growing list including Nancy, 'we have to pass it to see what is in it" Pelosi, Bill, the american people ore stupid' Mahr and the Obama administration whose strategical assessment of the American people as gullible, ignorant and political pawns manipulated to ensure election results.

It is just downstream from considering people political pawns that our socialist leaders now conclude we are without feeling and have no need for individual rights when weighed against the greater good defined by the current cast of Dem legislators, associated supporters and pay to work union thugs.

Seems to be happening in every big city. The city of Cleveland not too long ago started telling restaurants what type of cooking oil they can use. One of the radio stations here had a sound bite from him where he actually said "people need to be saved from themselves, because they don't always make the right choices regarding their health!" I mean I'm not quoting it word for word, but you get the gist! WTF do these politicians think, that they are our parents? Oh, and you can't smoke anywhere at the Cleveland Zoo now! Nevermind the fact that most of the attractions are outside. I understand not allowing it in buildings, but outside? Come on?

Opioid ( pain pill) addiction is an epidemic in the U.S., across the socio-economic spectrum. Doctor shopping and script forgery is common stuff. People routinely present in ERs on a quest for drugs. Some of them self harm. Nowhere is this more common than city/county hospitals.

The purpose of an ER is to stabilize patients. Limiting scripts writen in city/county ERs to a three day supply seems to be in keeping with the purpose of an ER.

On the otherhand, nothing prevents a drug seeker from returning in three days just as there is nothing to prevent someone from ordering another super-sized soda.

And I guess the medical community won't do anything about it so the local government will step in and save the day.

What prevents a person living in NYC from getting their pills in NJ ?

I am not bothered by smoke and have no horse in this race.

The smoking bans started it all.

It's now illegal to smoke on many public beaches in California and Hawaii. Some municipalities are seriously considering laws to make smoking in attached housing ( apartments/condos/townhomes) illegal. In some states, an employer can terminate an employee for being a smoker even if smoking is done off premices and off the clock. Same applies to alcohol and weight.

My wife's company nicotine tests new candidates. Current employees are grandfathered in. As I've said, I support the rights of business owners, but there is a fine line and they cross it when they infringe on the individual liberties of others and itruding on an individual's private lives. It's our own damn fault for allowing it, and allowing the insurance companies to get too big for their britches! Businesses complain about government overreach, and over regulation, yada yada, but then turn around and do it to their employees! Anyway, having said that, it should not be up to the employer to provide insurance to it's employees? Insurance while it should be affordable, should be the responsibility of the individual.
