Let me preface this by stating that I despise both parties. I am an independent and did vote Obama in 2008 (voted Johnson this time). I don't care for most politicians.
However I am a strong believer in the ideas of a somewhat traditional family. I don't believe one should be having kids unless married and supporting the kids and I believe in staying together pretty much no matter what. I think illegitimacy and divorce is destroying too many families and I see a difference between kids raised by married parents versus kids from divorced parents versus kids born out of wedlock.
Recently I gave an interview to a local paper about this and of course the claws come out, like how dare I attack non traditional families? That I should accept the new family life. That how dare I attack illegals going on welfare. So much more but you get the idea.
Since when has terrible ideas become the correct way?
Move to an area where the life decisions of complete strangers make you happy. Make that battered wife stay with that alcoholic, cheating husband. That will solve all our problems, and provide a more stable environment for the children.
I agree that people should not have children unless they are in a financial position to support that child. But I hate to break it to you - liberals and conservatives both do just that (and have been doing so since the dawn of man).
So maybe we should send all the children born out of wedlock, and their parents, as well as anyone else down on their luck, to the gulag, for Christian re-education!!! Teach them good honest Christian values, like tolerance, empathy, sympathy, generosity...... oh wait. Seriously, while I am in favor of common sense and personal responsibilty, the arrogance of some people really turns my stomach. I am stunned by the "values" of so many so-called Christians. What would Jesus do? A heck of a lot more good, and a crapload less of arrogant smug, self righteous judging, I can tell you. I'm currently in Tulsa, OK and I'm surrounded by all these "Christians" who make damn sure you do things their way-or else.
I am thankful to be moving to Australia on Saturday, where folks are just a tad more accepting of others, and a lot less judgemental. OK is high in poverty, and low in education, and is as conservative as the day is long. You self-righteous folks would be shocked at the amount of folks receiving some sort of govt benefit. You cannot legislate morality, you just can't

We are in a World, where having standards and values, even morals, is classed as wrong.
nothing wrong with morals, or standards-we all have them to some degree. It's when you try to shove them down everyones throats, or try to make YOURS the law of the land, while putting down others who may have different ones. Big difference
