Gutsiness has nothing to do with class or appropriateness. Yes, a citizen calling out the President in person does take guts, and based on Nugent's track record, he seems to be lacking in that department.
My prediction, Nugent will sit there quietly and do nothing but smirk and smile awkwardly. Afterwards he will go into full armchair warrior mode and spew his rage.
Nope. The Senate was split 50-50 at the beginning of his first term and 49-49-2 at the end of his second term. The Senate voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq in 2002.
And the Senate majority leader, a DEM, co-sponsored the bill.

No senator or congressman ordered that invasion. Congress passed a resolution (after much arm-twisting from Bush and Cheney) that urged Bush to use peaceful means but to resort to force only if he deemed it necessary.
Nugent was a long-hair madman rocker when dodging the draft was the stuff of popular myth and legend. But is there anything in his deferment history not in line with tens of thousands of others granted in the era?
The nice thing about those "tens of thousands" is that they tend to not try to claim a persona as a chest-thumping macho jingoistic patriot.

We can debate Nugent's intent all day.
His intent was to avoid getting a free trip to Vietnam courtesy of Uncle Sam.
He had a student deferment and lost it. Which means he didn't keep his grades up. Then he came up lame for the Draft Board. Amazingly convenient.
Forty years ago the Republicans would have been calling him a draft dodger and a dirty hippie. Today they're making excuses for him so he can be the poster boy for gun ownership. Woo-hoo. They don't want a man who who was in the infantry in Vietnam being the Secretary of Defense .... but they're making a guy who avoided the draft the hero of the Second Amendment. The word hypocrite can be found in your dictionary.
Who started it? The Taliban and Al Qaeda who recruited the suicidal hijackers and trained them at their terrorist camps.

Ted would sit beside Gabby wishing that a good guy with a gun would have stopped the bad guy with a gun. I hope Ted is respectful of the President while he is talking. I also want Obama to know not all Americans buy his socialist BS. Ted is there representing me and others. As to teds draft dodge, does anybody not regret sending 56,000+ kids to there death for a worthless cause? I don't care who was in charge at the time. Both sides have blood on there hands for it all. Would Ted joining the Army make you feel better? Would you agree with him then?
I hope Ted is loud and boistrous like the ass he is and gets thrown the hell out kicking and screaming!
