"Alabama state Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin (R) is pushing legislation that would impose restrictions on abortion clinics -- a move that she argues is necessary because the procedure is a major surgery that removes the largest "organ" in a woman's body.

“When a physician removes a child from a woman, that is the largest organ in a body,” McClurkin told the Montgomery Advertiser on Thursday. “That’s a big thing. That’s a big surgery. You don’t have any other organs in your body that are bigger than that.”

Mary Sue McClurkin, Alabama GOP Lawmaker, Claims A Baby Is The 'Largest Organ In A Body'

Obviously, her brain is the smallest organ in this Republican lawmaker's body.

Ages ago, I read somewhere that our skin is our largest organ.

In any case, what about women who are not pregnant?

They must be missing organs!!!

Wow. The stupidity is breathtaking. Perhaps she should focus on creating jobs for her constituents, instead of broadcasting her ignorance of medical matters? 'Cause, yeah, abortion doesn't skin people (largest organ: skin), and fetuses are not organs of the woman's body.

Default More Stupidity From The Right-GOP Lawmaker Wants to Restrict Abortion Because Fetus Is "Largest Organ In A Woman's Body"

Well, this is what happens when red districts elect fools who flunked HS science.

She didn't get the memo:

"Stop being the stupid party.... we don't need to demonize, and we also don't need to be saying stupid things. Look, we had candidates in Indiana and Missouri that said offensive things that not only hurt themselves and lost us two Senate seats but also hurt the Republican Party across the board." - Bobby Jindal

Oh, but that is BRILLIANT. You see, if we consider a fetus to be the largest organ, then all these silly "personhood" arguments that other republicans try so hard to pass in an attempt to reverse Roe v. Wade, are pointless. Or can anyone think of a reason why we would bestow "personhood" onto an organ? I can't.

Alas, this is yet another shining example why no educated or thinking human being can vote for these clowns. You truly have to lack any and all understand of biology to buy into this - or, of course, have your staunch ideology override knowledge.

So, let's summarize the Republican position:

If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." - Todd Akin (R)

"The right approach is to accept this horribly created — in the sense of rape — but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you." Rick Santorum (R) 2012

"Rape is kinda like the weather. If it's inevitable, relax and enjoy it." - Clayton Williams (R), 1990 candidate for Texas governor.

“I’m as pro-life as a person gets. You’re not going to have a truce.” - Paul Ryan (R) on why abortion should be banned even in the case of rape, incest, or endangering a woman's health. When asked about jailing women for having an abortion he said, ‘If it’s illegal, it’s illegal.’”

Deflecting a question about abortions for 12-year-old rape victims: "I just haven't heard of that being a circumstance that's been brought to me in any personal way.” Steve King (R)

“With modern technology and science, you can't find one instance” where abortion is necessary to protect a woman’s life or health. “There is no such exception as life of the mother” Joe Walsh (R)

Richard Mourdock, the Indiana state treasurer and Republican nominee for U.S. Senate: “Even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."

Mary Sue McClurkin (R) asserts that a fetus is the largest organ in a woman's body.

Never mind the crazy "Personhood Bill" that would open the flood gates for all kinds of craziness: Smoking while pregnant? Child Endangerment/Abuse. Drinking alcohol while pregnant? Child Endangerment/Abuse, etc.

Yup, if the GOP is trying to assert itself as the party of crazy, they are doing a mighty fine job.

If that's the case, she seems too stupid to do two things at once. Most people are much more productive.
