More to your point - Obama, the Democrats, and the Republicans would all have to agree to a replacement...the GOP has passed a series of bills for the past 2 years in the House, only to have them ignored in the Senate. There is no common ground seen on some of these fundamental differences. Yes, Obama said that his door is open...leading from behind not out there actually interacting with the GOP as a leader might (Clinton, Reagan - even Bush got out there).
The GOP's fix is to take the military cuts away and increase the domestic cuts. So yes, the GOP would like the Democrats to compromise by agreeing to their every demand.

Barack Obama OWNS the sequester. The White House admits that it was His idea; he proposed it. Now, he doesn't know what to do other than blame the Republicans because that is what he is ALL about: blame-shifting. No one plays the Blame Game like Obama.

The real question to those of you who are bending over backwards to find ways to blame the Republicans is: why did you vote for Obama?

Every president in my lifetime has worked with the opposition to get the job done. What makes Obama so special that he can't work with others? His stupid ego needs to take a BIG FALL.

Did I say he controls the floor in the house and senate? If you are going to post, please become a little more informed about what the president can and cannot do before casting aspersions on others.

The GOP has brought up a bill to just get rid of the sequester? When did that happen? What's the name of that bill?

Back in September, the House passed the The National Security and Job Protection Act, H.R. 6365, but the Senate refused to take up that bill for action.

House approves latest GOP plan to avoid defense sequester - The Hill's Floor Action

Just another example of the refusal of the Dem-controlled Senate to do ANYTHING, and the president to do ANYTHING other than play the blame game.

The GOP complain that Obama is not "leading" them as if they are not a separate branch of government. Kind of like if the SCOTUS complained that Obama was not making a dissenting argument for the Supreme court.

Do you know what a question mark implies?

Fail. That bill doesn't get rid of the sequester. It shifts the sequester to domestic programs. Where's the bill to get rid of "Obama's sequester?"

It's a projection. Obama is leading on the issue and using the bully pulpit to make his case to the American people while Congress is back at home instead of working.
