People should chuck 24 oz soda bottles and cans at Bloomberg.

What a joke NYC has become. More nanny America.

see, people might just look in the fridge before spending more money on something else. also, think of how much extra garbage is going to be produced when people have to buy alot more pop in cans or bottles to each 2 liter. garbage levels in NYC might just go up alot, something that they already have too much of.

Our only New Yorker, urbanlife78, seems to support it. So perhaps New Yorkers are even crazier than I thought.

The good people of New York need to ignore this law until it's unenforceable.

more actual trash is going to be the result of this bill. instead of buying 2 2 liters for a pizza party, now they will buy 4-5 6 packs of plastic bottles.

which will have a bigger green footprint?

I meant he had to change the rules to continue as mayor in reply to the question as to why nobody beat him. He spent a massive amount to eek out a win. Money that if he really cared could have been better used helping the poor in NYC.

I have been to NYC 1 time in my life, it wasnt the best place to be when I was there in 1982, and I dont think I will be going there again anytime soon.

To be fair, that same accusation could be made against every politician that runs for a high enough office that campaigns get expensive.

Anyway, a lot of us from the NYC area support both Bloomberg in general and this policy in specific, and it doesn't really break down along conservative/liberal lines like a lot of people outside the region seem to think (and of course a lot of people don't support him and these policies too, people disagree on stuff). Great thing about federalism is if you don't want these sorts of policies in your part of the country you can just not vote for politicians that back them.
