Claiming that Russia isn't better off today than it was under the USSR is one of the most ignorant things I have heard in a long time.

You mean how rightists forced out and murdered Allende, the democratically elected president of Chile?

yeah right, Pinochet dictatorship was so much better (sarcasm)
So you do admit that you would rather have an oppressive dictator for decades than a society where people will eventually have the freedom to make their own choices? I am sure glad people like you aren't in positions of power.

what's so great about that anyway? - explain
So you actually think the soviet union was a good idea? Economic stagnation while oppressing the average citizen, continually pushing subpar standards for labor just to keep people employed (resulting in overpriced, poor quality and dangerous products) while pushing a thriving black market that claimed lives and livelihoods of people every day is hardly something to brag about.

Socialism is a policy that people push when they are too d*mn lazy to actually get off of their a**es and try to make something of themselves.

...the Chinese government made the conscious choice to move towards capitalism years ago, which is the sole reason they have become an industrial powerhouse today...

The chinese state's sector share of industrial production fell from 100% in 1978 to 37.5% in 1999 and 31.6% in 2004. They are rapidly progressing towards capitalism, and that is the ONLY reason much of the products I use today are made there. The government HAD to make the choice to rapidly privatize markets because they simply couldn't compete on a global scale under a socialist economic system.

Yet again, PLEASE do some research before posting. You seem to be allergic to numbers or facts.

so how do you figure that the illegal coup performed by Pinochet was an improvement?

Pinochet was a fascist murderer and torturer.

and yet again, you seem to forget that Allende was democratically elected in 1970.

Heiferdust! All unbridled capitalism does is empower the rich at the expense of everyone else.

too right, and take a look and the developing world.

Pure rule of the stick.

I see it where I live daily - the poor are made into servants and all the wealth leaves the country.

Are you being sarcastic?

How does someone get empowered at the expense of everyone else in unbridled capitalism exactly?

The very notion of that happening is absurd.

Ever been to a flea market? That's unbridled capitalism.

Either you're joking or you don't know how to distinguish between capitalism and corporatism.

Unbridled capitalism will naturally morph into corporatism.

We can see that happening right now.

Bank bailouts is a good example.
