Me, too. I have a BA in Spanish literature and have taken more than my fair share of Spanish classes and we were never taught the Mexican national anthem.
I guess we had a party on cinco de Mayo in Spanish class, but no one complained about that.
As an alternative task to reciting the pledge and anthem, she was assigned an essay on the history of the Mexican revolution — an assignment for which she received a failing grade.

So, she was given an alternative lesson - in other words, WASN'T forced to recite the Mexican National Anthem - didn't perform to expectations and this is the school district's fault why?
If she was allowed an alternative, I do not see the reason for the lawsuit. That would be no different than the thread on the 1st grader wanting to use the girls restroom. The school offered a valid alternative.
