There seems to be a lot of talk these days about China's growing power.
So what is their real nuclear strength - do they have the ability to hit targets worldwide?
And how about Israel, France and UK and Russia.
a few other countries supposedly have nukes - could they be a threat one day?
I'd never underestimate any nation in their capabilities to strike targets world wide therefore I'm positive China, Israel, France, the UK, etc all have the capabilities strike any target. In regards to them being a threat, yes any country with nukes, guns, people, etc. can threaten another but the likelyhood of the attack is slim to none. Take note that most of the USA's allies have nukes rather they were developed on there own or they're on 'rent' or being loaned by the US through NATO therefore countries like Germany, the Netherlands, etc all have nuclear capabilities as well. One can only imagine if Russia (aside from the Cuban Missile Crisis) or China do the same thing with their allies, if so then technically those countries can strike any country on the globe. So essentially it's a system of allies and friends that allow any country the ability to strike another, Israel would probably depend on us if they wanted to strike lets say North Korea.
China-yes, they have ICBM's with nuclear payloads on board. Have over 200 warheads.
France-capability & knowledge have current medium range capability. Mostly sea launch platform(s). Over 350 warheads/bombs.
Israel - ONLY short-range tactical capabilities. Aircraft and sea based weapons. Approx. 90-115 weapons of medium size.
UK- medium to medium-long range capabilities. Air, surface to surface and sea based systems (air & land have been "SLATED" for retirement but has not occurred). LARGE as well as tactical in nature.
a quick trawl through that shows some countries (eg:India) to have nukes but they are not 'operational'.
So how long to make them operational, and what is the point of having them if they don't work?
Also, with the UK and France it seems that the whole arsenal is located on 4 subs each - so couldn't an enemy just take out these subs and it would be game over?
I also thank you for the site, I thought there was way more nuclear weapons out there. I thought Israel had 300
