WTF?

Why are you starting another thread about making Good Friday a federal holiday when there is already an active thread, in this forum and also started by you, about the same thing?

Why is Good Friday not a federal holiday?

Default Should Good Friday become a national holiday?

Another holiday is always a good idea.

Then make it June the fifth, or July 30th. The only reason to make this one would be for religious purpose, and that's unconstitutional.

Hell people have been fighting for super bowl Sunday and the following Monday as a national holiday, I'd say that has more people involved then good friday

It's really simple. If you want a day off, schedule it off. We don't need the government mandating holidays.

The founding fathers disagreed with you. They were striving to get national holidays, because people with European ancestry had been used to national holidays.

Now, do we need more? Should they be religious in nature? The founding fathers also didn't make religious national holidays, for a reason. They didn't copy the European holiday schedule. We made our own holidays, July 4th, thanksgiving. Hell Christmas is a unique American holiday, because Europe wasn't really celebrating it.

But good Friday is purely religious

^^^ Speaking as an hourly union worker and an atheist, we don't need or deserve Good Friday to be a paid national holiday. If a christian needs to take Good Friday off from work, let them request a personal day.

Why should my employer have to pay for another holiday just because you feel it's been too long between paid national holidays and three day weekends? I see my co-workers call out "sick" all of the time. They have plenty of "holiday" days anytime they want or need to.

Jesus's resurrection was much more cause for celebration than his death. Make Easter a holiday instead.

It's the American way.
Why should that mean that you have to go shopping? You can choose between the mall, and the place of worship.

I think that a country where most citizens identify themselves as Christians, and where every single State Constitution mentions God, should give the day off so people. I think it would help draw more people to God, and make it easier for those who already believe to spend the day in worship.
