What about radical muslims blowing up other muslims in Pakistan with car bombs? What are they?
As always it's not such a black and white answer.
For example, the Afghanis where fighting off a Russian INVASION....clearly that would be freedom fighting.
With the US invasion it was because Al Queda had attacked us and basically had bribed and intimidated themselves into the Afghanistan govt. So some attacks agains the US there was just outright mercenary action, some was jihad against the west in general and once the bullets started flying some of it was just some 18yo kid that wanted some payback because his brother got caught in the crossfire and so on and so forth.
In many of these situations, it's like watching the movie "Unforgiven" and then saying that it was a movie about good guys and bad guys.....it wasn't.

Any group who supports US interests is a freedom fighter, any group who opposes US interests are terrorists. From the US point of view, the underlying issues are totally irrelevant.
A great example is the MEK.
The MEK is a group in Iran. When the MEK tried to overthrow the Shah, and murdered American military, government and civilian persons....they were declared Terrorists™.
The MEK still exists, and the fact that the MEK wants to overthrow the current Iranian government, the MEK are Freedom Fighters™ and endowed with lots of money, including no-bid contracts to interrogate Iraqi POWs that the US captured during the Iraq War.
Never mind the fact that since their existence, the MEK has sought to overthrow every government in Iran that has existed, whether it was backed/supported by the US or not.
If you study US Foreign Policy, you will see that the US truly speaks with a forked tongue...out of both sides of its neck.

The US invaded Iraq, were the Iraqis who were fighting against the US freedom fighters?
Without thwe wrods;at times;no its not. Terrorist is defined by not just fighting but the actions.If its true then the Nazi's where germnay freedom fighetrs from terms imposed by other european countires after WWI.
All depends on which side of the gun you're standing on.
