Given that most cost around $10,000 per year I doubt a median income family ($54,000 in California which is higher than most of the rest of the country) could afford to send two kids to private school as it would mean about 2/5ths of total income (before taxes) to do so.

In short, your claim that "only the poorest of the poor wouldn't be able to afford it" is complete BS.

Is this really what Republicans need to be concentrating on right now?

Someone made a thread in the Elections subsection postulating that Republicans really need to stop playing around with losing propositions. Some of you should read what the OP has to say. It can't hurt.

Sadly though, a bad strain of masochism continues to plague the Republican party.

What part of "nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof" do you not understand?

A private employer is not the state.

A private employer can act in opposition to the 1st Amendment all they want because it does not apply to them. The 1st Amendment applies to Congress and by extention(as ruled by SCOTUS) to the states.

Your analogy is pointless.

Stay on topic.

That is a great prayer, acknolwedging the Lord and Creator.

I think that he is trying to recite the 10 Commandments.

Oh no! He can't do that. It is "unconstitutional" - according to liberals.

Remember that kid that went to school and preached all day long? School was not designed for him to preach all day long.

That child [as does every other child] has the right to pray before school, before each class, durring lunch, before his exams, and on the way home...He does not have the right to stand in the middle of class and preach. That should be self-evident.

If he were allowed to do so, his parents would have failed him, the school and adminstrators would have failed him, and the school and the adminstration would have failed the other children. Rights have restrictions. That has already been decided by the US Supreme Court.

Actually the point that is made is that science and religion are not mutually exclusive.

Science describes the creation of God.

The problem arises when some people mistakenly believe that their increased knowledge can replace God.

They end up worshipping the creation rather than the creator.

Science and religion go hand in hand.

God understands the principles of physics, biology, chemistry, ect... and their language - mathematics better than any Nobel Laureate scientist that ever walked the earth, because he is the Author of it all.
