Darn those baby boomers retiring. We should chain them to the desk and force them to keep working!

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) labels people who are unemployed and no longer looking for work as “not in the labor force,”and that includes people who have retired on schedule, taken early retirement, or simply given up looking for work.
Probably also includes those who have run out of unemployment benefits as well. It's not to say that they have "given up looking for work". It's a bit hard to find a job when jobs are disappearing don't you think???

I noticed at the bottom of the article there is an option to make a donation. Is that your website??

Doesn't Obama dragging us into a pit of socialist hell sort of conflict with the DOW yesterday? Doesn't your everyday basic life also conflict with this notion of socialist hell? Damn, chill out and have a beer.
America is great and getting better every day. Believe it.

Then they will be accused of being selfish and not stepping down and denying someone unemployed the opportunity to have their job.

...and then Obama will be blamed for that.

It's Obama derangement syndrome. Obama is to blame for everything....people retiring, losing one sock in a pair, the rain.

The OP has already made a thread about this, yet last time it was 90 million instead of 9 million. So which is it?

90 Million Americans Exit Labor Force---Thank You Obama!

As far as I know I can't blame Obama specifically for the newly invented "Rain Tax", but I CAN blame him for being an active partner in the corrupt, self-centered, self-serving, gimme gimme gimme, bizzaro world system we currently have in place:

Are you saying all those that left the workforce retired ?

Of all the people receiving SS payments, only 60% of them actually retired.
The rest did not retire and are receiving other forms of SS.

Don’t be fooled into looking at the Dow as your economic barometer. That’s for the lazy, the amateurs, the armchair partisan economists.”

That's the 'downward spiral' of recessionary times. The cycle goes like this : Recession starts due to a variety of factors --> unemployment rises --> gradually people in general have less disposable income --> less money is being 'injected' into the economy --> businesses start having lower revenue --> businesses lay off more people and combine jobs (one person does two jobs) --> there's even LESS money being injected into the economy --> further job cuts.
