I completely agree. As a society, our priorities are completely out of whack. Some on here will even say those soldiers killed in Afghanistan deserved it.
The military knows the risks and gets paid for it.
They CHOOSE to got to war.
That's somewhat of an untruth. If I remember right they stormed an American embassy (American soil) in 1979 & took a few hostages. Why would you hate them ? The Iranian people are about as westernized as
the people in Dallas Texas. Its the regime thats wacky.
Correct but they've never attacked home soil. You already knew that
Iran backed the ''wacky regime'' after the USA & UK overthrew their democratically elected leader and installed a puppet for oil purposes. 1953
It's hard to ignore that. I mean Jews still constantly talk about the Holocaust and yet this occurred later on in history. Which makes getting involved in Syria and other places so tricky. Best is to just let them figure it out, no matter how many people they kill or how long it takes. USA went through a revolution and Civil War. It's natural.
They choose to join the military. However, after that, they MUST follow orders or get punished.
What a stupid comment.
If they're too stupid to know that they're going to war, then they're pretty damned stupid.
They know that in exchange for the $$ and benefits, that they have to follow orders.
It's the military, not anarchy or kindergarten.
And they never have to join or re-enlist.
I dunno about deserve, but they certainly didn't belong there.
And anyone who enlists to do the fed governments dirty work is a dumb ass.
They aren't enlisting to do the FED's dirty work... it's the corporate military that Eisenhower warned us about. They are killing and dying for a bottom line! War for profit and nothing more.
Three of them died during the Boston marathon and there was much outpouring and support and it's estimated 30 million dollars were collected from donations!
However, seven of them died in Afghanistan and yet, I hardly see anything in the media or financial support going to these families. Actually make that 19 if you count for the entire week!!!
everyone's life is equal and everyone's death is the same...
The difference in reaction comes from the difference in locale. While everyone's life is equal, we expect deaths in war zones. We don't in marathons. So one shocks us the other doesn't but both are sad. It's not that soldiers deserve to die, it's just that we expect some to die. We don't expect runners and spectators in a sporting event to be bombed.

Agreed. I will never understand how people can claim that they didn't know that being in the military means being in the military .
