Last month, Jacobs filed a civil lawsuit against the former boyfriend, Ryan Seay, whom she met when she was was a doctoral student. The two dated for several years, including time spent long distance, which was when the intimate photos were initially sent.
Jacobs rejects criticism from people who said she never should have sent – or taken – the photographs in the first place. “It’s absolutely just a new version of victim blaming," she said. "What I would say to victims when they hear that is, just hold on to that little voice inside of you that says, ‘This is not right.' What’s happening to me is not OK, and there need to be laws in place against this.”
I'm a bit torn on this. On one hand, I certainlty sympathize with the distress this woman is going through and the inexcuseable invasion of privacy. OTOH, how stupid was she to take and distribute such photos to begin with? It's like "celebrities" who complain when photos get leaked. My first thought is "Why did you take them if no one was to ever see them?" Trust no one. FTR, there are no naked photos of me... anywhere.
Many years ago, I was at a resort in the Caribrean. A group of us ended up drunk and naked in the hot tub. Among the participants was a SI swimsuit edition cover girl. Very nice girl and we had been chatting. When my then-wife raised a camera to take out pic together, she asked that we not. "You seem like a nice guy and it's not that I don't trust you, but if a photo like that gets out you can't imagine the problems it can cause me." Smart girl. I've never seen her name associated with any scandal or seen a nude pic of her anywhere.
Back to the story above, what there need to be laws in place for are to prevent stupidity! Sometimes victims do create their own problems.
She should not take nude photos & send them, I agree. However, he's despicable for doing that & he is the one to blame.

That being said, the best word of advice in this day and age, don't take photos or video you would never want to see end up on the internet. That would solve so many problems.
The guy is certainly a jerk for distributing the pictures. However, once she sent them to him, they became his property. He didn't steal them from her, nor did he force her to take or send them. To the extent that she is a victim, she is a victim of her own poor choices--in men and/or personal behavior.
If he is actually "stalking" her in some legally definable way, that's a different issue; but posting photos you own doesn't constitute stalking in and of itself.
I say her fault due to technology there have been sites you can go to and turn on your cam and put on a whole show. I know because a ex GF of mine showed me her hooters live on cam The cam goes off and no picks. Here is my sympathy for the woman always remember people can be and will be jerks.

First of all, the two dated for a few years as it stated in the article. This wasn't a case of a one night stand taking naked photos. They were obviously a couple & she trusted him. Second, let's say you stupidly sent your girlfriend a couple naked photos. You broke up & she started posting those pictures of you on a continuous basis for four years. Would you simply look the other way & shrug it off? No, I highly doubt you would.
