Amazon is killing brick and mortar nationwide just like Wal-Mart killed small businesses. I don't get why supporting Amazon is so much more politically correct than supporting Wal-Mart. Both are killing jobs and consumer choice. Wal-Mart at least employs people in most cities and towns which in turn keeps some money in the local economy.
If Wal-Mart was based in a blue state, it probably wouldn't have the stigma it does.
It being based in Arkansas has nothing to do with it. Most people dislike it for consumer-related reasons, not political. Contrary to many here, most people's lives aren't consumed with politics and hating the other side 24/7. It just happens to be really cheap, so we all go there anyway.
I wouldnt want to order my grociers online, I like to see and touch the food before I buy it. I would rather go to the grocery store and see what I am getting instead of ordering online and getting some fruit that is bruised or vegetable that is rotten.

I did order groceries online to be delivered from Sainsbury's in the UK and never got a bad bunch of produce, but they also did not have very far to go to deliver to us since there was a Sainsbury's 1.5 miles away.
I wouldn't order my groceries from Amazon or anyone else here. Not until I see it being successful, which I doubt it would be around here.
Or have no other choice. On the bright side, at least there still is a local choice.
Where I live we had a local place up until about 8 years ago when it went out of business. We used to go there quite often, but still got many things at Walmart. Now all we have are national or regional chains, and Walmart is the cheapest.
I wish we had a Target though. I'd take it over Walmart any day of the week .

Big box retail's chickens are coming home to roost. Over the last two decades they succeeded in putting millions of mom and pop small businesses, and some larger locally based businesses, out of business with their predatory business model. Small towns across the country, in every region, have been decimated by Walmart and their big box counterparts.
Now Amazon and other online competitors come along and beat them at their own game, crying foul over every disadvantage they have to the new competition. Sorry, I don't feel sorry for these retailers at all, not one bit. If they all go out of business, so be it.
Small, local businesses will pick up the slack for folks who still prefer brick and mortar, and they'll be able to provide good service and be of greater benefit to the communities they serve than any big box retailer.

Target sells the same Chinese crap Wal-Mart does. I do prefer it though because there are usually more people working in the checkout area meaning a shorter wait.

I'm talking groceries though. I prefer their grocery selection to Walmart's, Target has always been cleaner and more organized in my experience, and like you said, there is a shorter wait.
