One time I told an Asian friend that it just seemed like they were smarter than everyone else, and she said only the more educated Asians and the ones with money were able to leave. Therefore, it wasn't that Asians were necessarily smarter than everyone else; it was that the smarter ones were able to leave Asia.
Look at the statistics of the entire population of countries such as Singapore, Japan, South Korea, etc. regarding education. I am not talking about immigrants but all the people who live there now. Or are their successes regarding education simply a stereotype?

A lot of it has to do with their school systems and their work ethic. They attend school for longer periods of time without all of the extracurricular activities that American kids have. That doesn't mean they are smarter; it means they are better educated.
The politically correct agenda has a dark side. By telling people that differences between cultures essentially don't exist, they are covertly brainwashing people into forgetting their customs and history so they adopt consumer culture in its stead.
What stereotypes do you attribute to Southern women besides being friendly and warm? Also, all Southern women are not nice, but a lot of us are manners which makes us appear so.

Stereotypes fall under various categories and are not meant to be an "absolutism". They are usually not even "mostly" true. The Japanese tourist with the big cameras: not absolutely true or even mostly - but if you even see 20% of the Japanese tourists with big cameras, then the stereotype is re-inforced. Italian men are womanizers: Go to Italy and see for yourself. Again, not every Italian man - but enough that you laugh (or get disgusted). Not all stereotypes are mean, but speak of cultural traits that have a tendency of being true enough times. Also, NO ONE is immune from it.
Well to be fair the OP didn't specifically state racial stereotypes; s/he just said "regional, cultural and ethic." That could be "Southern Baptists, rednecks and WASP." Or "Minnesotans, German-Americans and Lutherans."
So I am not ready to brand the OP as a racist yet. That was what was confusing about the post....absolutely no context or examples provided.
Need moar deets before proper bashing of the OP can commence, I think.
But then you are saying that if the OP was indeed refering to rednecks, minnesotans or baptists that he would NOT be a racist?
The more I travel, the more I recognize the source of stereotypes. Along with that I have realized the futility of using stereotypes to understand or judge people.
I think the OP should stop travelling as it appears to be damaging his mind.
Agreed. Maybe it is too much jet lag.
