I gotta tell you... I really dislike Putin intensely. But he played this one like a pro, has his cake and eats it too, and Snowden ends up looking like a bit of a fool.

Can only wonder what Obama promised Putin for him to take the position that he did.

Nothing. The bottom line is that Putin got his political licks in as did the Chinese. In the final analysis, everyone knows how important the NSA activities are to stopping terror attacks not just in the US, but across the globe and no one wants to see the tactics and methods exposed to the terrorists. Snowden was useful for propaganda, but no one is going to assist him in revealing harmful details except maybe North Korea.

Assange is holed up in an Ecuadorian embassy, shooting his big mouth off, making bucks from Wikileaks, but afraid to face charges; now Snowden, hiding in a Russian airport, condemning the US acting like some big hero, but afraid to face the music. I wish the media would stop giving them any air time and people would stop supporting Wikileaks. Courageous, brave, heroes, no way. Cowards looking for their minute of fame.

What would Obama have to promise? Putin got exactly everything he wanted or needed, and then (like China previously) expeditiously divested himself of the saddle burr that is Snowden. Neither Russia nor China give a good goddamn about Snowdon as a person or Snowdon as a political cause. Neither of them acted in any way outside of their own narrow interests.

The desires of the US government or Obama were never even part of their calculus.

They are probably realizing that Snowden is a limited hangout operative instead of the hero whistleblower that he supposedly is

After this is all over both Snowden and Assange will get multimillion dollar tv and book deals. I doubt Snowden really has anything that our "competitors" don't already know.

He got more that he could have dreamt of from Snowden's four lap-tops packed with "Top Secret" files. He has no more use for Snowden, so he is tossing him out for the wolves.

Putin and the Chinese have no respect for Obama, probably realize what a no-load he really is. Notice how Obama, who is busy in Africa, has basically pooh-pooh any questions about Snowden, basically ignoring him. Putin's basically giving Obama the bird by his latest remark that Snowden has to stop leaking information from our US partners...

IF Snowden comes back to America he's a dead man. they are not even gonna let a trial be set before a bullet mysteriously enters the top of his skull.

Best advice: Stay away. You did your duty and served the American people well.
