The People's Court in Beitang district decided the couple should visit the mother at least once every two months, and on at least two of China's national holidays, it added.
It also said that the couple could be ordered to pay compensation if they did not visit.
In East Asia parent invest heavily into their children often sacrificing to get their children ahead. This is with the explicit expectation that they parents are taken care of on old age or at the very least not abandoned.
Sad that it came to this. I wonder what the daughter has to say. Why wasn't she spending time with her mom? I admire the way many asian cultures care for their elderly with family support. I'd hate to see them lose that.
