Do you have a problem with that? Or is it only Islam that "pushes their views"?

For extra fun: we were taught a Catholic priest named Junipera Serra was a hero. Even though he used Indians as slave labor. Thankfully people have since wised up and the Catholics no longer get to tell school kids converting native peoples was for their "benefit".
If it was in a public school then yes I have a problem with it.

crusades? you mean when the oppressive Catholics wanted to take over and push out the other free living people, and spread their influence across Europe? And "no, you can't have your god" belief poisoned other religions?

Seeing as the Catholics and Christians TOOK away much of Europe from the Muslims, Byzantinians, and the Ottoman Empires, what exactly is your point?

How do separate religion from history? You can't... There is no way to teach history without including the influences of religion. The objective here is to stick to the facts and teach the history. The good the bad and the ugly.

You would be hard pressed to find a country where a minority utilizes the majority of the welfare capacity. Just use America as an example. If you're able to separate fact from opinion you'll see things differently.

Makes perfect sense to teach Islamic history in a country that once ruled MOST of the Islamic nations.
I have no problem with teaching the history of the Islamic faith. But, as I said, my only concern is if they teach it like we learned Christianity - with all its ugly faults - how are the radicals going to react? If you superficially teach it (just giving dates, places, people), then that is fine. But, once you get into the sects (which they deny really exist and only call their particular sects "True Islam) and learning about Mohammed or the other leaders of the faith, chances are they will have death threats and fatwah on their heads. This already happens to writers, journalists, artists, politicians, activists . . . blasphemy is punishable by death.

The U.K. is a nation of laws (recent history only). Do you really think they will let radicals commit crimes without prosecution? This is not 1800s Texas we're talking about...

So if the Islamic population grows, then it's OK?

Yep - if the law breakers were of the same belief as the law makers, and the laws were either changed or interpreted differently.

For Islam, the means by which the end is met really doesn't matter, does it?

We have evolved from these things and have for the most part learned from them the middle east hasn't

Do you think Saudi Arabia and Iran love their women with all of their faults?
