A black guy from New York killed a Jewish guy a while back and was acquitted of the crime by a jury and then the DOJ prosecuted him and convicted him. Things like this have happened before.

That's because he threw racial epithets at him while it was happening. Nothing like that occurred here.
Personally I disagree with the jury's verdict; I'd have voted to convict him of manslaughter.
Having said that, I think a DOJ investigation is a waste of time. They'll never get him on a civil rights violation. The burden of proof is too great. It's a tremendous waste of taxpayer money.
