That would imply that you think that gay athletes are not on an equal level outside of Russia, presumably in the United States, given the nature of this thread.
You are correct. I misspoke. Sorry, I meant to say that gay Russian athletes are not on an even level.

Did not open the link yet, but WHAT???

Will they be forcing gays to have sex with the opposite sex to increase the population?

Alright, and in the United States they are on an equal level.

Yet, by specifically hoping that gay athletes perform well at Sochi, President Obama is elevating them, and also focusing on them being gay rather than their athletic ability.

It doesn't make sense.

You seem to be under the misconception that his comments were aimed at elevating gay athlete victories to a platform higher than straight athlete victories. Rather his comments were aimed at putting them on equal levels (in context of other countries looking to exclude gay athletes from competing.)
The question he responded to had nothing to do with gays or the Olympics, if you read the transcript or watch the video you will see the question was this......

Q: Thank you, Mr. President. I wanted to ask about some of the foreign policy fallout from the disclosure of the NSA programs that you discussed. Your spokesman said yesterday that there's no question that the U.S. relationship with Russia has gotten worse since Vladimir Putin took office. How much of that decline do you attribute directly to Mr. Putin, given that you seem to have had a good working relationship with his predecessor?

Also, will there be any additional punitive measures taken against Russia for granting asylum to Edward Snowden, or is cancelling the September summit really all you can do given the host of issues the U.S. needs Russian cooperation for?

Rush is an idiot, but he is trying to say that banning homosexuality will increase the population and economic power.

Russia has not just banned "dispensing gay pornography" to people under age 18 (which is also illegal in the U.S., of course); it has banned ANY NEUTRAL OR POSITIVE PUBLIC MENTION of homosexuality whatsoever if there is even the slightest chance that a person under 18 could see or hear or read it.

In other words, it is now illegal for a woman to hold her girlfriend's hand in public. It is illegal for a public figure to say "I am gay" on TV. And it is illegal for the state media (which, in Russia, is most media) to mention gay people in any context that might be construed as positive.
I fall for no propaganda. I may be an American but I am not of the school that believes any government system means the best for me and mine and political propaganda organs like Hollywood fall under that purview. You may enjoy whatever you like but I am no puppet to over-paid shills who need to romanticize a thing to profit off of it. People really ought to get over this sexual personae thing because there is so much more to life and personality than sexual orientation and warring genders.

I don't really want to see heterosexuals get sweet in public any more than I do homosexuals. But the crux here is the meddlesome way Americans and the EU destabilize other cultures by imposing their values upon them, by flooding their streets with drugs and the old stand-by, social propaganda, which is what is happening world-wide with homosexuality. You may not like that fact that you think Russian lesbians can't make out publicly in Moscow or that people can't do a RuPaul act on Russian TV but so what? You don't live there. And why adopt the tactics of cultural imperialism when you dare claim those people should do as you do because you are so righteous and correct in these matters? Why should any media outlet proclaim any sort of relation as positive? Can't people figure that out on their own without being instructed by some famous puppet in flashy clothes telling them what they should be?

One of the most effective tools in modern media when it comes to promoting anything or any 'lifestyle' is the celebrated figure whom everyone has seen splashed across LCD screens and in the market aisle and in theaters. What sort of sane, responsible society puts so much power in the hands of mere entertainers? A culture that allows itself to be dictated by those who pull these pretty drugged-out automaton's strings is a damned sad one and I couldn't care less what is being promoted by them. The developed world has put far too much influence in the hands of people whose only gift is to entertain, to pretend, to shoot hoops. But then you might enjoy having the estimable Dennis Rodman as a diplomat... Or that using PED's are an affirming boost to sports acumen deserved of A-Rod's compensations. Most people know what that is and when too many fall for that you get a society of coke-snorters and chronic alcoholics under a different ruse but with the same morality underlying it.

You won't go to Sochi? So what? You want to brazenly war with cultures that are none of your business? Why? Spoilt children want a lot of things then they mature and realize that not everyplace is the same place and that that is a good thing. Hate and love are not exclusive to political bickerings and mono-culturalism demands a lack of diversity to exist. Let Russians decide what is good for Russia while you go shopping for something beautiful made in China. You can bet American and European marketers are drooling over Russian markets and resources.

Americans just adore being told who to be just as Russain are used to being told who to be. Good for the Duma and Putin for taking a stand on America's solipsistic ways even if it is disagreeable. Someone must because America has no business demanding every other culture to become just like it.

It doesn't make sense.
I think he was just trying to thumb his nose at Russia and hinting at how embarrassed Russia will be if they lose to a gay athlete.

They do so because they have been conditioned to demand that American culture is the only viable culture that allows people to exist cheerfully.

Also, all this agitation keeps their minds off of what is going on in their backyard. Seems Russia and America have this much in common at least.

Human rights do not change depending on the country.

You might have to go to page 3,4, or 5 but it is there.

You guys are unbelievable with your "link please" nonsense.
