Exactly, because anyone who's ever raised a teenager knows that sometimes even really terrific kids make mistakes and do dumb things--it's part of growing up for all of us. That's how you learn. Making a mistake doesn't mean that someone has the right to rape you. That's sick, twisted thinking.

You missed that the thread has gone on a tangent away from the specific rape allegation and is traversing two parallel courses: (a) the idea that college football players are "privileged" and can get away with anything, and (b) a discussion on the old, tired argument that a woman may "deserve" being raped.

"(b)" started with this post.

ive said it before and ill say it again. if you act like a ****, your going to be treated like one.
You will note that practically everyone, including Harrier, has slammed the poster who made the argument, but the moment that Harrier interjects a qualifier (that a woman should not intentionally make herself an object), everybody jumps all over him and tries to claim that he said "rape is justified" when he clearly stated that it is never justified.

The game is dumb, dishonest, and pathetic.

Now - let's return to discussing the topic of the thread.

Sorry, Harrier, you're not a mod. And you were the one who made the post about "True, then again that doesn't give a woman free license to walk provocatively around wearing the bolded." I don't understand what the "bolded" is? I don't see a picture of the victim. And presumably, if the group that raped her took pictures, she didn't have much clothing on at that point.

Most people who are decent and have common sense, will leave the woman alone, not take advantage of that woman, and definitely NOT raping them.

what you are describing is not common sense.

The "bolded" was the word "nothing" in Jack McCullough's post.

It had nothing to do with what the alleged victim wore, it was a general observation, said while agreeing with JM that nothing that a woman wears is justification for rape.

"Nothing" would be being naked.

It was a play on words - Harrier even placed the "wink" icon to make that clear, sheesh.

Thanks for that clarification. Jack is correct.

Lots of back story and second hand information available via google.
The rape occurred in a coed dorm.
The white kid was also charged with tampering with evidence and unlawful photography.
Very clear that more may have engaged in the rape or watched.
Hearsay that one of the guy's charged was the BF of the victim. After he had sex with her, he invited his teammates in to help themselves.

Disgusting. The BF allowing others to violate his GF? He should be hung by his nuts.

My thoughts are first with the victim of this horrendous act.

I am not sure why this story has not received more attention. When the Duke Lacrosse Players were falsely accused of rape it was a high profile national story.

Too many College football players think they are entitled and invincible on campus. The rules do not apply to them (so they believe) because they bring in the big bucks to the Universities.
I opened the link and saw the picture of the accused players. It's obvious why this case hasn't received more attention.
