Hmmm, how long does a beetle live?

Well, on average. One year? Five? Ten?

At ten years, 500 generations would be 5000 years. Not very long in the scheme of things.

How about a fruit fly instead?

Natural Selection's Fingerprint Identified on Fruit Fly Evolution : Rochester News

If these findings are any indication....I'd say people haven't seen much of anything change from the fruit fly..and as evidenced, computer models full steam ahead.

I was thinking of much shorter life spans in order for better observations. Introduce various sets of variables, observe any generational changes much easier.

Interesting that you picked length of beetles as an example. Would general things like weight change, height, etc apply as well?

Well..if anything, beetles lend themselves to the argument of natural selection being, relatively, readily observable at the micro level.

Can't stick around for 1000-5000 years to observe possible changes.

Anyway, are you saying that possible beetle height, weight, length changes are an observable event of evolution?

That was my point in regards to Jaymaxs "infection analogy"

In todays world of advanced archiving capabilities? Yes..we can document every and anything witb visual evidence pretty much. But we also live in a world where anything can be doctored.

Well, let's assume things aren't being doctored. But what do you mean "doctored"?

Anything can be made to appear what it is, in fact, not.

Men can become women with surgical advances and it's becoming so refined that the naked eye cannot discern.
