Not everyone is saying no.... and attention is always a good thing.

It should be. The Royal Family of England isn't above military service. Why are Obama's kids better than other people's kids? It's he who wants to get into this war.

You would think the body tats that gang members wear would have been a clue. Especially those with the tats all over their face.

The military is desperate and has been reduced to accepting thrill killers released from prison or criminals with records. Come to think of it, those nutters should be the first on the front line.

During the Iraq invasion we were happy with less than 1% of the nation in the service and paying contractors excessive salaries to do a job that was performed by servicemen in the past.

If it's that important to our country then we should have a draft, we shouldn't be paying mercenaries to fight our battles.

The problem in the USA is that the politicians view themselves and their families as some kind of special aristocracy and the citizens are nothing more than pawns in their games.

Obama has not yet once justified the bombing of Syria, has not yet explained why this war would be in our best interests. At least with Iraq, there was the 9-11 attack on our people and Saddam Hussein's supposed support of the terroists groups behind that.

No politician's kid should be exempt from the draft. No one should be allowed to sign up for college to evade the draft. No more Clintons getting out of the draft themselves --- it should be for all or for no one.

Members from 52 gangs and there are 1.4 million gang members. What do you figure the undesirable fraction would be?

When they get into the military they "recruit". They find another gang member and they bond and the bonding grows with each member they find - doesn't matter what gang they were with in the US, they are the new gang in the military. And when they get out of the military they return to the gangs. I would guess at least 50% of them return.

It was suggested many times that it was his kids that should go.

There is never a time that everyone agree's. If it was popular the bombs would have dropped by now.

You'd think! With non-gang members getting tattoo's it's probably getting harder to reject tattooed enlistment..... it's like the total rage everything tattooed.

I know young men who were home schooled that have tried to join the military, only to be told to take certain classes for 3 months at a college and pass a proficiency test. All this to join any branch except the Navy. Makes me wonder why the gangs aren't required to perform these same task, they're not even asked to finish high school and known for taking the training back to other gang members. Home schoolers are more dangerous, more unreliable than known gang members.

In the Army Now: Gangs, Nazis & the Mentally Ill | The American Conservative

Irregular Army begins with an investigation of undesirable elements who in years past would have had difficulty entering and staying in the military, such as racists and Nazi skinheads. Such extremists have made it into the military before—I briefly served in the Marine Corps in 1986 with someone who described himself as a racist skinhead—but Kennard provides background on how today the military often looks the other way to keep the ranks filled. He interviewed one neo-Nazi who had tattoos (a Celtic Cross and a Nordic warrior) that recruiters are supposed to flag. Forrest Fogarty’s story somewhat undercuts Kennard’s thesis, however, since he actually joined the Army prior to the War on Terror. He is something of a celebrity as the leader of the skinhead band Attack; he took leave in 2004 to play two concerts in Dresden, Germany. A bitter former girlfriend alerted the military to his leanings by sending pictures of him at neo-Nazi events, but that didn’t derail his military career.

War has never solved anything. Just made alot of people suffer and the elite rich. Certainly there can be times when self-defense is reasonable.

If people want congress et al to go why not just publicly ask why they declare war then send someone else? Why have people that can declare war that don't go and fight?

How is forcing everyone (or are we talking just males?)against their will to go kill people a solution to anything?
