Despite leaving the scene of an accident, Zuckerman was not fined and did not receive a ticket. When Peele contacted Bedford Insurance Brokerage, Zuckerman's insurance agency, they offered her the book value of the car wrecked car: $13,055. Peele explained she still had $17,700 left to pay on the car. They've gone back and forth, but the bottom line is that Peele doesn't have enough money to put down on a new car.
Fusions crumple pretty easily so I'm not surprised he was able to drive away even having done that much damage to hers. The guy's a POS if he doesn't fork over enough to buy her a new car.
This dude could have done the right thing, especially with his resources. I'd file him under 'jerk' status.
That Fusion she owned is no newer than a 2009 model, and might be older. She owes 17,700 on a car that is at least 4 years old, and brand new cost about 25 grand? She definitely overpaid, or is doing some creative financing, and now she is paying the price.
Interesting that Zuckerman left the scene of the accident and was not issued a ticket or a fine.
I wonder why he left without calling the Police and reporting it. Did he perceive his time more valuable than the law or was he drunk/high?
Fortunately for this woman, Zuckerman will likely take care of business and avoid further attention.
I know car leases automatically include GAP insurance for the difference between book value and outstanding amount of the lease. People who finance the majority of their car or roll prior car debt into the new loan should buy GAP insurance for the difference between book value and outstanding loan balance. I DK how this works when it's a third party claim, like this one.

I am thinking she might have rolled prior auto debt into the new loan.
having been the 'victim' of two hit-and-runs, in both cases the police found the person, and in neither case did they prosecute him.
they were poor, btw. so i don't know if i can chalk this up to him being a billionaire.
