That's right, kind of ironic but at the very same minute the government shut down over attempts to defund the ACA, www.healthcare.gov went live with the national and state exchanges now open for enrollment.
People just need to get over it, the ACA is here to stay and will begin improving people's lives starting today.
I got through but they need (and know!) a lot of info to confirm your identity before showing the plans and rates. I suppose it's to determine your eligibility for tax credits. They asked if I had a credit card with X,Y, or Z and if I owned car-model X,Y, or Z. They know, so you have to answer correctly to get verified.

Our health care system is so expensive that few people can pay without insurance. And even if you think you are invincible (when you're not) you are still paying for the care of others. Bringing everyone in the risk pool will lower costs for everyone.

While I by no means implicitly trust the government, the idea that members of Congress or anyone in a high political office would have unfettered access to the private details people will submit to the health exchanges in their applications is really absurd.

If you couldn't afford it before how can you afford now? There is no teeth to the mandate, in fact there is incentive to drop your insurance since you can't be denied coverage.

Please inform yourself on the ACA. It provides hundreds of billions in subsidies to people who could not afford it.
