They had to pay an employee to barricade the memorial. Truly disgusting.

They make a lot of sense if the goal is to bury the thread. This Veterans Honor trip should have never been buried in a 100+ page sticky - but it sure does keep a lot of people from finding it.

Sorry to say, but this reminds me of frat boys playing chicken on the highway.

One Congressman said this morning, "What are they going to do next? Hang a drape over Mount Rushmore?"

Well, with all due respect, why can't these veterans wait until it reopens? When you shut down the government to "nonessential" employees, you have no one on staff to safeguard the resources, etc. In practical terms, this is what happens with a shutdown. Nothing personal.

"The ultimate threat is to support another candidate in the primary election which is a threat made possible by gerrymandering that ensures the success of a particular party's candidate."

Now see this:

"Senate Passes Health Care Overhaul on Party-Line Vote"

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/21/us...pagewanted=all

"“It’s obvious why the majority has cooked up this amendment in secret, has introduced it in the middle of a snowstorm, has scheduled the Senate to come in session at midnight, has scheduled a vote for 1 a.m., is insisting that it be passed before Christmas — because they don’t want the American people to know what’s in it,” said Senator Lamar Alexander, Republican of Tennessee. "

They still hadn't read it yet. And they were not given the time to do so, by the President. You may also want to note that many in the democratic party did not like this law either---thus the gerrymandering way it came to be.

This is why our government has shut down. There was never a true vote on this; gerrymandering was used as the President forced it, rushed it and called the play book. Now, can he deal, when the cards are being dealt back to him the same way?
actionbell, you've been gone awhile..... they still haven't changed "facts" still are confusing or party denial.

They found money for welfare parasites, yet they can't open something that doesn't take much, if anything, to maintain.

They were on a planned trip. Did you seem some of the vets? I hardly think they'll be around for another trip in the future.

Next time a soldier steps up to defend our liberty with their life, you can opt out, I guess. Nothing personal.
